line.01

vertical use of space

line.01 is a reduced, space-saving wardrobe system that deliberately replaces

the traditional wardrobe with a single vertical line, designed to hold only daily essentials.

One key reference for the project was the lamp Parentesi by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù (1971), an object defined by tension between floor and ceiling and with a minimal physical footprint in space.

The construction is based on a 3 mm steel cable tensioned between a ceiling fixing

and a 3.5 kg steel base resting on the floor. Threaded onto the cable are wooden cylinders with a central bore,

which function as stabilising and spacing elements. Between these wooden components, cylindrical rods are placed to serve as hooks for coats and jackets. Rubber washers act as buffers, while stainless steel cable stoppers

mounted above the uppermost and below the lowermost wooden element keep all components under tension and define and fix their position.

line.01 adapts to any ceiling height and can be individually configured in terms of number,

arrangement and colour of the wooden elements. Besides its use in narrow hallways, the system is equally suitable for bathrooms, kitchens or as a spatial display and presentation element.

line.01 is conceived as a quiet, functional object that does not occupy space but activates it -

vertically, precisely, and with restraint.
